Dr Val Noone has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to education as an academic and historical researcher, and to the community. He was a contributor to The Catholic Peacemaker from 1983 through to the early 1990s – a publication investigating nuclear war.

Recently retired as a member of the Parish Pastoral Council and Finance Committee of St Joseph’s Catholic Parish, Collingwood, Val was also involved with the publication of Priest Forum (1968-1970), which led to the formation of the National Council of Priests.

A Catholic priest during the 1960s and 1970s, he was an active member of the Fitzroy House of Hospitality during the early 1970s.
