John Leahy
8 Sep 1935 – 18 Aug 2009

John attended Yarraberb State School and Marist Brothers College, Bendigo before completing a Civil Engineering Degree at The University of Melbourne. His seminary years were spent at St Francis Xavier’s Seminary, Magill, South Australia.

John was ordained priest of the Sandhurst Diocese on 30 December 1970 and ministered in the parishes of Tallangatta, Numurkah, Wodonga South, Yarrawonga, Bendigo, Mohyu, Pyramid Hill, Benalla, Dookie, Shepparton and Mooroopna.

John was a faithful priest, a caring pastor, a prayerful man. He was a gentle friend who radiated calm joy – a wonderful companion in ministry. His ability to laugh at himself and share his cheeky humour endeared him to all who knew him – and those who knew him, loved him. May his dear soul rest in peace.
