Three new books by local authors…

December 2009

Light of Other Days
Fr John McSweeney

This well produced book portrays the life and times of the author in Sydney, Japan and Ireland.  He describes his journey to Australia with 35 other priests while World War II was still on.  He was part of the Australian post-war mission to Japan.  The story of his appointments in various parishes is rounded off with interesting accounts of his various driving tours of the outback and the country clergy.  The reaction to Vatican II, the agony and the ecstasy of the changes and the revisionism of recent years are depicted in some detail.

The book is co-sponsored by Foxtel and The History Channel. All proceeds go to the Bishop David Cremin renovations at All Hallows College Dublin.
