Greg Manly CP
23rd March 1920 – 9th Feb 2010

Greg Manly CP was born in Dublin, professed as a Passionist on 8 December 1943, and ordained on 28 May 28, 1950. In 1960 he came to Australia to teach at the Passionist seminary in Adelaide.

Greg will always be remembered as one of the Passionist ‘leaders’ at the crucial times of Vatican II, when there was a fair bit of questioning and turmoil at a time when many left the seminary.

Greg moved from an academic approach to theology into the area of “Liturgical Prayer”, and worked for many years with Sr Anneliese Reinhard MSC.

Many will remember Greg’s very sharp (sometimes acerbic!) Irish wit; stories are still told and re-told in Passionist community gatherings. Greg is remembered with great fondness and gratitude for his friendship and wise counsel.
