Maurice Edward Walsh
10th Sept 1923 – 22nd Nov 2009

Maurice attended Pius XII Provincial Seminary at Banyo, and was ordained on June 30, 1952 at St Stephen’s Cathedral, Brisbane. Following ordination, Maurice ministered in many parishes throughout the Cairns Diocese, including the Cathedral Parish, Gordonvale Parish and North Cairns Parish and served as Vicar General of the Diocese of Cairns 1975-1990.

Maurice was known throughout Far North Queensland for his hospitality and for his love of rugby and cricket. His prayer life was very visible and he had a great friendship with the Blessed Virgin Mary and prayed like St Thomas Moore that we would all meet merrily in Heaven. He was true to himself, true to his faith and true to his God
